Solution "403 Forbidden" appears when VPN clients try to access Web UI of LTE Gateway router via LAN IP
This Article Applies to:
All TP-Link LTE Gateway Routers
Issue Description/Phenomenon:
You have configured VPN Server on TP-Link LTE Gateway Router, and VPN client in other network could connect to the VPN Server successfully, like the topology below:
TP-Link LTE Gateway Router (VPN Server) --------PC 1
PC 2 in other network (VPN Client)
PC 2 connects to the VPN Server successfully and could access PC 1, however when PC 2 tries to access the web interface of TP-Link LTE Gateway Router via its LAN IP address, error message “403 Forbidden” pops up.
Available Solution:
For security consideration, our LTE Gateway routers don’t allow VPN client to manage it via LAN IP address. If you really need to manage the LTE Gateway router on the VPN client, please enable remote management on Advanced->System Tools->Administration page of the LTE Gateway router, then use Internet IPv4 address (it has to be a public IP address) displayed on Status page of the LTE Gateway router to manage it remotely.
To make it more secure, you could also choose "Only the Following IP/MAC Address" as Client Device Allowed for Remote Management.
At the same time, we have reported this issue to related engineer for evaluation to see if it is possible to remove this restriction or add a switch in the future, once there is any update, I will let you know.
Your understanding and cooperation will be highly appreciated!
