Model: Archer C50
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 0.9.1 0.4 v0001.0 Build 211108 Rel.33223n(4555)

Hi,

I'm network administrator.

I've set a Archer C50 (AC1200) as "Wireless router".

I've set succesfully "wifi security" "personal" or "enterprise".

ll is working fine. All windows 10 PC connect to AP C50, using "personal" or "enterprise".

All is working fine if I set "Basic settings : Enable SSID broadcast".

If I disable "SSID broadcast", Windows 10 see successfully "hidden network", but, then, impossible to connect to theses networks:

 - if on Win 10 I create the network (SSID + personal or entreprise - keys and so on), Win 10 don't make the link between the hidden network and this config,

 - if on Win 10 I don't create the network, the "hiddent network" ask me for SSID and Key, but refuse to connect.

Is it a problem on C50 or on Win 10 ?

Thanks for all.

Best regards.

Hi,

A question.

Let's say you make the SSID of the Archer C50 visible (activate "Enable SSID Broadcast") and connect one of Windows 10 PC to the Wi-Fi of the Archer C50.

Then go back to the settings of the Archer C50 and deactivate "Enable SSID Broadcast".

Now test if the Windows 10 PC that was previously connected to the Wi-Fi is still able to re-connect to this same Wi-Fi.

Does it still connect to the previously saved Wi-Fi or not?

Thanks for your answer.

I oppe : here the tests you'd like to see what will happen.

==============================

On AP:

Wireless: Enable

Wireless Network Name: test-01

Mode: 11bgn mixed

Channel: Auto

Channel Width: Auto

Enable SSID Broadcast

-------------------------------

WPA/WPA2/WPA3 - Personal(Recommended)

Version: WPA2-PSK

Encryption:AES

Wireless Password:4106

Group Key Update Period:0

==============================

==============================

On PC Win 10:

Network & Internet

Wi-Fi

Show available networks

I see tst-01.

Connect automatically is checked.

Connect.

Enter the key: 4106

"Do you autorise other PC":

yes

-------------------------------

A few seconds later:

test-01 - Connected - secure

-------------------------------

Some other checks:

ipconfig is fine: 192.168.0.101

On AP:

wireless statistics: I see the pc

DHCP client list: I see the pc

-------------------------------

I go on

Manage known networks

I see test-01

-------------------------------

I come back to wi-fi (Show available networks and so on)

==============================

==============================

On AP:

DISABLE SSID Broadcast - Save

==============================

==============================

On PC:

I dont' have touched anything...

Wi-Fi : on

"test-01 - Connected - secure" has deasappeard

ipconfig don't show IP address for wireless card

-------------------------------

On AP:

wireless statistics: the pc is not here

DHCP client list: the pc is not here

-------------------------------

On PC

Manage known networks

test-01 is here

I come back to wi-fi (Show available networks and so on)

Show available networks

I see Hidden network - secure

I dont' try to connect.

==============================

==============================

On AP:

ENABLE SSID Broadcast - Save

==============================

==============================

On PC

PC connect automatically to the wifi network test-01 without doing anything

==============================

PC win 10 for tests is a little bit old, without updates. Prehaps is it the problem.

I'll try to find a more recent and updated PC.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards.

  @boucherle

So the PC will not connect to the "test-01" network as soon as it is hidden.

At this point it is not possible to say whether the problem is at the Windows PC or the Archer C50.

Have you tried to connect to the hidden network with anything other than those Windows PC's, like a smartphone? If yes, was it able to connect to the hidden network?

One thing you could test on the Windows PC is to execute the following command at a command prompt and then check again if it makes any difference:

netsh wlan set profileparameter name="test-01" nonBroadcast=yes

  @woozle

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.

Your solution don't change anything. Sorry.

But... but...

I've found a Win 7 Pro PC. All is working fine with it and the Archer C50. With broadcast, and without broadcast, all is good ("personal" and "enterprise").

So, I can say that the Archer C50 is working fine !!! No problem.

All is due to my Win 10 !

Thanks for all.

Best regards.
