Model: TL-WPA8631P KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi, I have recently set up a Deco mesh using 3 x Xe75 pro.  I wish to add two EAP 110 access points which will not be within ethernet cable range, so I have to use power adapters.

I am currently using my old Devolo 500 extenders which aren't giving good speeds.  Ideally I would like to add TP link adapters which are compatible with Deco mesh.

My question is; will I be able to clone the TL-WPA8631P units to the same SSID as the mesh, and should I expect better performance with these units over the Devolo 500s?

I realise that the TL-WPA8631P kit will only give me one extender. Rather than buying two TL-WPA8631P and throwing away the extra "base station" unit, I was considering adding in the TL-PA8010P kit which are non-wifi units. Could these units also be cloned to the mesh?

Thanks in advance

Hi, TL-WPA8631P KIT or TL-PA8010P KIT could work with your Deco units, but they will not build a Mesh network, that is to say, you could connect a powerline adapter to the Deco router via Ethernet cable, another powerline adapter/extender could connect to other client devices of EAPs, but the powerline extender will have its own wireless network, you could customize its wireless network name and password to be the same as the Deco WiFi, but they are not Mesh network.

@Sunshine Thanks for your helpful reply!  Are you able to comment on whether I would get a better signal to the EAP using the TL-WPA8631P versus my existing Devolo 500 power adapter?  My modem is a 4g LTE only providing about 80 Mbps download.

Hi, it is recommended to connect a computer to your existing Devolo 500 power adapter and test internet speed, if it is near 80Mbps download already, it means the speed is not limited by the Devolo 500 power adapter. If it is much slower than your modem/router speed, you could test the front device speed one by one to identify where the issue is.

If the issue is confirmed to be with the Devolo 500 power adapter, then maybe changing it to WPA8631P might help.
