Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: V1_1.2.3 Build 20230603

Hi,

Just bought this Ax55 router yesterday. I have set up and configuring it manually to meet my network requirements and suprisingly noted that 2.4ghz band is not working.

Updated to the latest official firmware but not fixed at all. I have tried all downgraded firmware which is possible.

The exact problem is 2.4Ghz SSID is not visible when I search available network on iPhone 13 Pro or my Sonos Beam Gen2 or Dell Latitude laptop or iPad Air 5gen.

I have turned off Smart Connect, EasyMesh, used different names for the 2.4 and 5ghz band, manually tried Band 6,3,11 without success.

Also tried every settings in wireless options without success. Some short periods after reboot the SSID shows up but every device says unable to connect if I enter correct password.

I also tried with different security like WPA2, WPA3 or mixed personal but no success.

2.4ghz Guest network and Iot also not working. Cannot connect my 2.4ghz Xiaomi Security Camera and my Sonos Beam Gen2 Soundbar which are using only 2.4ghz

I'm using these in a flat with 3-4meters distance from the router.

My solution is I'm using now a 2nd router for 2.4ghz (Linksys MR7350V1) in bridge mode but I really angry about I have bought a relative expensive TP-Link and it is half useless!! This is crazy by the way. Even DD-WRT firmware is not available to test this issue. And this is a 1day old router!!

Now I need to use 2 different router to meet my requirements which is crazy! Also I don't know why are the built in USB port don't support printer server function in this catergory of routers. I can't share my printer in the network...

Please reply back with some real solution because many topics are dealing with this problem but there are no real solutions except change bands or reset or something useless steps. These are not working at all!!

Thanks

  @Sunshine

Fortunately reseting of the router solved the problem. It was working ok some time ago, then the 2.4G frequency started to disappear. Now everything is working. The only inconvinience is the repeated setup. Next time I will save my settings before doing a factory reset. :)

If none of the 2.4GHz options are working, then it seems you have received a faulty router.

Your best bet is to factory restore (to remove your details/passwords etc) and return it to the retailer for a replacement.

Are you sure this is a hardware problem? Lot of topics are in the forum complains about this issues. Sometimes the 2.4ghz SSID is popping up, but unable to connect. So I like appropriate answer from a tp-link representative or supporter.

By the way the 5ghz section of the router is flawless and working without any issues.

I also thinking that this is some firmware issue because some other models reported same issues are updated with dd-wrt firmware and the problem is gone. So I think this is some firmware problem.

If I reset the router to defaults sometimes it's popping up in my iPhone networks and very rare times I can connect but loose connection or bandwidth and unable to connect again.

Hi,

Do you have any USB 3.x device plugged in the router's USB port? In case you do, then unplug it and check if the 2.4 GHz wireless improves.

No USB connected because USB port only supports Removable Storage Device sharing...

Hi, it seems that the 2.4G band Wi-Fi is defective on your Archer AX55 router, since it is a brand new one, please contact the seller where you bought it to get it replaced.

Are you sure it is a hardware failure? I need to replace the unit?

Seller only accepted 3day replacement without hassle so this was expired so I need to send it for diagnose to repair center. This took days...

This is not firmware related you sure?

Thanks

  @Slayer86

Hi,

More, than one month passed since your last post, did you manage to solve the problem? I'm curious because I'm facing the exact same issue.

No! Unfortunately I was not solved it. I'm using two routers at the same time to use both bands :D lol

Really crazy. I have turned off the 2.4ghz on the Archer and use a Linksys router for 2.4ghz only :)

Hi, may I know if all your wireless devices cannot see the 2.4G WiFi signal of AX55 router?

Did you try changing the 2.4G WiFi SSID and channel etc.?

And was it working fine before? Please try resetting the router by holding reset button until the Power LED blinks to reset the router to its factory default settings.
