Model: Archer C50
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: Latest

Archer is runninng in Range ectender mode

tried Smart IP and Static IP, but DHCP does not work. The log file shows

"wrong server id or request an invalid ip"

ok, If you use s PC, then you can configure IP manuell, but thats not a pretty Solution. If you use some Smart Devices which have DHCP mandatory, you cant use These.

any Idea about the Error in the log file?

Follow this thread to configure C50 as a range extender - it might be helpful in your case.

If this was helpful click on the arrow pointing upward to make it blue. If this solves your issue, click the star to make it blue as a "Recommended Solution". Tips:149wubkkfoLmNDjDbiTxx4ZU8mpcMA5CJt

hi, did the configuration like in This Post.

Problem ist, that DHCP does not work.
It can Not be a Problem of the wlan of the "Service Provider" because same configuration with a tplink 841n (Friend has it) works as intended.

  @terziyski

by the way, There is a second strange behavior.

(1)i gave the MacBook a fix IP "192.168.0.3" (because DHCP does Not work)

Then i Connect to 192.168.0.1 (c50)

now Internet Works but Access to webgui (192.168.0.1) does not work

(2)if i disable/enable wlan on MacBook, then GUI works, but no internet

Disable/enable again, then behavior like (1)

This alternates each Time the MacBook reconnects to the c50.

Given that you're with the C50 latest FW release, best you could do is to test it in a different environment (with another main router) and check if there's any difference.

it is the newest Firmware and Hardware Revision 6 - Even newer than on Website. I testet This already in my Home Network (different Master Router) and same behavior. DHCP did not work. Ok, now i have had More Time - so i found the Crazy behavior with Reconnect.

Just now i am in the Location where it was planed to use.  Funny - the TP 841n of a friend works with the same configuration. I think its a Problem of the Firmware.

OK, lets try this configuration:

Use "Quick Setup" menu for configuring the Archer C50.

Make the initial wireless settings as usual and when it comes to the final settings, set Archer C50 LAN IP address as Static IP (within the network range of your main router).

(for example: if your main router DHCP server range is set to 192.168.1.100 => 192.168.1.200, set Archer C50 LAN IP address to 192.168.1.254)

Set Archer C50 DHCP server to disable. Click Next and then click Finish button.

Wait if Archer C50 is rebooting and then test the connectivity.

  @terziyski

Thank you for your Help.

i had been working several years as Support ing for routers and had been @ several telcos worldwide. I know what i do and what i need

i used Static IP 192.168.01 and I Need NAT with dhcp.

connect works, if i use on enduser Device a fix IP. For example 192.168.9.10 and as Gateway 10.10.0.1 (wan Gateway, because 192.168.9.1 does Not work). If dhcp is on or not,  doesn't matter. Problem is, that devices like Google Nest, TV Set or Google TV Stick do not Connect without DHCP.
Even If i would occupy IP adresss Form the "wan Network", then Devices like Nest or Tv Set do no have "captive Login" possibility.

I have no influence on the "wan Wifi", that means i have no idea about the range of used IP adr. I only Know, that wan Gateway is 10.10.0.1

Even nat does not work, because different devices (PC, mobile) request captive Login.

If NAT would work, the c50 would present mac address and captive Login would be only one time. That means, the captive Portal would see only the mac Address of the C50. It Looks like a nix of Bridge and routing.

A friend has the 841n, which has the same configuration Menue and with same configuration  everything works - (ok, in due of Hardware no 5GHz). It is on the same "Wan Wifi" Network connected.

i think this Firmware has a bug, that dhcp an nat do not work correct
