Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.7

So i installed pi-hole DNS server in my home NAS (Synology D920, if it's relevant).

Deco does not allow to change the DNS setup under "internet connection" tab, to internal address, and asks me to update the DNS address under DHCP server, at its DNS field.

So I updated the new local DNS address there.

Primary network works excellent with local pi-hole DNS.

However guest network can't access the internet. I receive DNS resolution error page. when I deleted the local DNS address under DHCP server tab in Deco app, the system resumed working with the ISP DNS, and guest network works properly.

I don't think it's a pi-hole issue, as its server (NAS) is connected with a wire to the X55 DECO.

any ideas?

thanks.

  @arich

Deco Guest network is insulated from Main network. Devices on Guest network can't access devices on Main network. Your home NAS is wired to Deco, which means NAS belongs to Main network.

Try this: from device connected to Guest network ping your home NAS. That ping should fail.

What you see is by design.

 Having the same issue. Now my IoT devices can't access to Internet therefore they don't work.

Is there a way to assing DNS IP to Guest Network?

I believe some new functionality is coming to X20's for IoT devices that might solve our issue but I have V1 so I think my deco hardware will not receive this update.
