Morning,

 

I'm trying to set up archer AX73 with my ISP, they've informed me that all isneeded is the VLAN id which i've imputed but still not working.  is there anything else people can recommend? i've rebooted numerous times. i've tried with and without VLAN.  There is no modem as its direct from exhange and all is needed is DHCP enabled and dynamic ip.

Hi,

 

According to the system log the Archer AX73 is not getting any IP addresses assigned by the ISP's DHCP server.

Do you have any other piece of hardware available that you could connect to the Ethernet cable for a test, to see if it would get any IP addresses assigned by the ISP?

 

Do you have another Ethernet cable at hand that you could try with?

  @woozle I've plugged the same ethernet into the isp supplied router and it works all fine, which is why I'm thinking it's a setting with in the Archer settings maybe?

There are some ISP's out there that will only allow a router with a certain registered MAC address to connect.

 

For that reason third-party router manufacturers usually implement an option to mimic the MAC address of the original router. 

 

You could check easily if that was the case by manually entering the MAC address of the WAN port of the ISP router into the corresponding field on the AX73.

Do you have anything else that has an Ethernet port, like a computer?

I would still like to see if another device (apart from the ISP's own router) would get IP addresses assigned when connected to the ISP's Internet connection.

 

Was the MAC address of the ISP router displayed next to the WAN port settings within its user interface or was it printed somewhere?
