Better to use OneMesh or separate network with extender?

I have a AXE5400 modem and RE705X range extender. Due to the unfortunate placement of the modem, the range extender will be closer to all the clients. I'm afraid that if I use OneMesh, it will attempt to route every connection through the range extender (because even those clients that don't need it will still get a better signal from the extender).

Should I disable OneMesh, put the range extender on a separate network, and then only connect to it with the clients that are in dead spots and actually need it? Or does the extender have some way of working this out to ensure performance if I just let everyone connect via OneMesh?

Thanks,

Matthew

  @matthewm Hi,

I prefer you to use the Onemesh feature. You can manage all internet and devices on a single network. Having 2 separate networks in the house is a bit of a problem because when devices are roaming, the transition between networks may not be healthy. So Onemesh is a good option
