Deco XE75 port 1 no longer working

Good day. A few months ago lost my internet connection and after no luck debugging the issue I simply swap my ISP ethernet cable from port 1 to 3
- Before swaping: Port 1 ISP. Port 2 Deco Secondary unit. Port 3 Switch
- After swaping. Port 1 Switch. Port 2 Deco Secondary unit. Port 3 Switch
Several weeks later there were some power outages due rain & wind. Internet and Deco units recovered but devices connected to switch were no longer accesible
- Removing the swicth and connecting the device (example. laptop) to port 1 didn't fix the issue (no switch issue)
- Ethernet cables working as intended (neither failure here)
- Attempt several scenarios (cant recall them) but ultimately only port 2 & 3 were working as intended
Upgrading to 1.2.6 didn't fix the issue and just yesterday I update to beta firmware 1.2.7 with promising results yet still issues
My results
- 2 XE75 Deco units
- Device and connection seems stable. No performance or disconnection issues so far
- Ethernet port 1 is empty, port 2 goes to a switch, port 3 goes to ISP
- Port 2 switch has on it: 1. Ethernet connection to Arlo hub station (security cameras), 2. Ethernet connection to network HDD, 3. Ethernet connection to another Deco XE75 unit
- Main Deco Working scenarios
- Scenario 1: Port 1 empty. Port 2 switch. Port 3 ISP. Secondary Deco working as intended.
- Scenario 2: Port 1 empty. Port 2 ISP. Port 3, switch. Seocndary Deco working as intended
- Main Deco NOT working scenarios
- Scenario 3. Port 1 ISP. Port 2 switch. Port 3 empty (no IP, red light, no internet)
- Scenario 4. Port 1 ISP. Port 2 empty. Port 3 switch (no IP, red light, no internet)
- Scenario 5. Port 1 switch (w/o Deco unit). Port 2 ISP. Port 3 empty (there's internet, Secondary Deco works, but whatever is connected to the switch will be unaccessible)
- Scenario 6. Port 1 switch (w/o Deco unit). Port 2 ISP. Port 3 Secondary Deco unit (There's internet, Secondary Deco works as well but devices connected to switch are unaccessible)
- Scenario 7. Port 1 switch (w Deco unit). Port 2 ISP. Port 3 empty (There's internet at first, but after a few minutes the whole internet will stop working, including internet WiFi)
- In brief
- Whatever is connected to port 1 is NOT detected by Deco App
- Whatever is connected to port 1 will not have internet
- If there's another Deco unit connected to port 1 via a switch it will likely crash the Internet at all, including WiFi
After this, did swap Deco roles
- Working scenarios (Main Deco, used to be Secondary)
- Scenario 1: Port 1 empty. Port 2 switch. Port 3 ISP. Secondary Deco working as well
- Scenario 2: Port 1 empty. Port 2 ISP. Port 3, switch. Secondary Deco working as well
- Scenario 3. Port 1 ISP. Port 2 switch. Port 3 empty. Secondary Deco working as well
- Scenario 4. Port 1 ISP. Port 2 empty. Port 3 switch. Secondary Deco working as well
- Scenario 5. Port 1 switch. Port 2 ISP. Port 3 empty. Secondary Deco working as well
- Scenario 6. Port 1 switch. Port 2 any device. Port 3 ISP. Secondary Deco working as well
- Secondary Deco (old Main Deco) WORKS if connected via port 2 or 3
- NOT working scenarios
- Old main deco (now secondary deco) NO working if connected via Ethernet port 1
Looks like Ethernet port 1 is my issue... Any way to figure out the root cause? Port no longer working? Really doesn't make sense that only 1 port is no longer working

@mooffy No, I RMA'd my faulty units before I could try this solution. I was suggesting that people who are currently affected by the issue to try it as a troubleshooting step.

Thank you for the posts everyone. I thought I was losing my mind trying to get these XE75s to work. Defective product for sure.

My "fix" as in https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/619958?replyId=1455572 was OK until 2025-04-30 04:03.
Port 1 is now dead again

Hi Guys,
I'm slowly migrating over to Ubiquiti 'prosumer' Wi-Fi equipment, which is highly configurable with frequent updates
It seems TP-Link has kept configuration as simple as possible with their Wi-Fi equipment; for non-technical users, and now it appears to have stopped updates on older Wi-Fi equipment, which still have outstanding issues?

All three of my XE5300 bought from Costco have developed the same issue. After several TS calls to TP-Link and several of their suggestions, still no resolution. Then I was passed on to another CS Tech and he admitted their is a Port1 issue with their products. He suggested the RMA process and it came back not returnable as out of warranty 6-months. What a horrible company.
I think a Class Action Lawsuit is in order.

@AGMV I have had the same problem multiple times with my Deco 75...swapped out the primary did solve the problem temporarily (done this twice). And TP Link have graciously replaced two of my three Deco 75 units.
Each time I get the problem fixed I think ok I am good now. That only lasts 3 months then the problem resurfaces for whatever Deco 75 I use as the primary. I am done with Deco 75 units. I will contact TP Link to see what home mesh system they recommend and see if they can honour some warranty / hastle this has been and provide me with new wifi mesh routers.

@BruceD frankly, I wouldn't take their advice if the product you're using has a known fault and they're not recalling it. What's to say the new product won't have the same issues? I've had 2 units replaced as well, and when the units are working they're great, but what happens when the warranty's finished and you're stuck with broken products that should realistically last a decade or more given the exorbitant cost and supposed "quality"? It doesn't even have moving parts! When my XE75's get replaced I won't be getting Decos for fear of this happening again.
If you can get it replaced under warranty, great. But if you're buying a new mesh system don't ask the manufacturers for advice as they will only suggest their own products and omit the flaws, I suggest going on networking forums or review sites and asking other users what they would recommend and what to avoid

Hello, Just wanted to add that I am affected from this as well.
Bought 3 Decos EU/1.0 in march 2024, after ~5 months I woke up to a red LED on my main deco. No matter how many times I tried to powercycle modem/deco it just won't work anymore. Long story short I ended up switching satellites and it worked again, I thought to myself "weird but whatever"...
Fast forward to two days ago same thing happened again on the second satellite, this time I decided to get to the bottom of it and not just switch satellite again. After two full days of testing I found out that Lan Port 1 was dead, out if curiosity I tested the satellite I originally used as main and also its Lan Port 1 is not working.
This is unacceptable I contacted TP Link support and they behave as if they never heard about this which I find laughable.
Anyway I still have warranty until 2027 and will exchange them, hopefully I will get a new hardware revision where this issue was addressed.

@M3rl1n careful about wanting newer revisions. Rev1 has been around the longest and has the best support and the most features added via firmware. TPLink have basically abandoned the other revisions at this point...
