Firmware Version: Latest

Hello,

I just got RE330 repeater and configured it with 5ghz modem.

The download speed from my phone using the modem is around 450 mbs and upload around 350 mbs.

Configuring the repeater with the 5g connection, i'm only having 241 mbs download and 218 upload .

My internet modem and the repeater are just 3 meters away. It does not reach the 400 mbs .

Whats the issue ? Not the numbers advised

  @Re330_user

Hi,

Getting 241 Mbps through a wireless repeater that is rated at "867 Mbps" (5 GHz band of the RE330) can actually be considered a good result.

Here is a short explanation.
In practical use no Wi-Fi device will ever be able to reach the wireless speed it is rated at. That is the same with any device that you buy from any manufacturer.
A wireless device rated at 867 Mbps commonly yields a usable data throughput of around 400 to 500 Mbps.
However, unlike a normal wireless router a wireless repeater has to use that available bandwidth to perform two tasks. Send the data back and forth between the router and itself and send that same data back and forth between itself and your phone. Since this happens on the same frequency channel the available bandwidth is shared between the two tasks and hence you end up with around 200 to 250 Mbps.
