Feature Request: Update Firmware to Support Service TCP Port 443 on open vpn

Since external public networks block access on any ports except few like 443, that is why I want to be able to use this port.

Hello, thank you for posting on the TP-Link community, and we certainly appreciate all your feedback and feature request here.

Currently, the OpenVPN Server could only use ports from 1024 to 65535, I'll make sure to log this feature request and pass it along to the team.

By the way, for now, if port 1194 is blocked, you could add another router between your modem and the Archer AX72, then use port forwarding feature on the main router for the OpenVPN Server of AX72 router, internal port will be still 1194 and external port uses 443.

Feel free to let us know of any other feature requests you may have, we’d be happy to send them up for you.

  @Sunshine

are you saying i should dump AX72 router instead and use it as a bridge.or dump it totally and use Asus router?

Than what is purpose of me having the new AX72 router.

i have a Asus router using openvpn tcp 443... if u put this router before AX72 router than AX72 router is useless....

It seems Asus also suggests to use port 1024 to 65535 for OpenVPN Server:

  @steven168

While the asus may suggest it, it doesn't force it like TP-Link does.

I am yet another user that came from a string of old asus routers, RT-N18U, RT-N53U and others that allowed me to set openvpn on port 443, enabling me to connect at work, or in public wifi networks and other networks where i don't feel secure to browse without a vpn, and also where no other ports work.

Bought this Archer AX53 thinking it would support 443 just like asus did.

What a disappointment, for me, not being able to use port 443 is the same as not being able to use an openvpn server at all!

Really am not keen on flashing with ddwrt or tomato just because of this. It's a shame really, because the rest of the interface seems ok, i like to set items by ip and give them names, don't want to lose that, but at the same time, it's kinda useless.

This was my first time with TP-link, and i have mixed feelings. Considering replacing it with a newer asus that will definitely support port 443.

Keep in mind, there are threads on this from 2020! Should be made available across the whole range.

I can only imagine the amount of people who don't even search any forums, and just send it back.

EDIT: It's even worse than i thought, there's no alternative firmwares for this Archer AX53, so i am stuck.
