Archer R5 as access point

I have installed an Archer R5 as router and 2x E5 as extenders. It works fine. However, I need one of my devices to be wired, but there are no ethernet ports on the E5. The salesperson recommended me to buy another R6, enablae the AP mode as use this as an ectra extender/access point. There are now guides available specifically for the R5 / E5. I have spent 2 days now, googled a lot, read a lot of TP-Link guides, but I cannot connecet the AP mode R5 with the regular R5. All good ideas and help is highly appreciated!
All the best and thank you in advance

Hi,
There might have been a misunderstanding.
Running the Archer R5 in "Access Point Mode" means the R5 AP and the R5 router have to be connected via Ethernet cable.
In other words "Access Point Mode" does not mean that you can connect the R5 AP and R5 router wirelessly and then use the Ethernet port on the R5 AP to connect a client device.
However, since the Archer Air R5 and E5 are all advertised as being "EasyMesh-Compatible" you could build an EasyMesh network consisting of one R5 as router and the other R5 and the E5 as Satellite EasyMesh units.
That should give you the functionality you are looking for. (provided I have understood your needs correctly)
Mind you that when using EasyMesh the wireless SSIDs of all routers and extenders will be the same. So you would not be able to choose a different network name for the "Access Point" R5.

Thank you very much, you have understood my needs and problem correctly and the salesperson has misinformed me. I have in tried to set up the new R5 wirelessly, normally I come to a solution but not this time. I will return the R5 and find a more appropriate solution/extender.
Very best,

Ok, I see.
Is there a particular reason why you don't want to use the wireless EasyMesh?
Apart from the limitation that the SSIDs will be the same throughout the whole EasyMesh network, Mesh solutions usually provide a better overal user experience than regular wireless range extenders.

Thanks a lot for @woozle 's help and I do agree with woozle, you don't have to return the second R5, and you could add the second R5 to the EasyMesh network wirelessly, here is the guide: How to add a router to an EasyMesh network as a satellite device
If there is any further issue with the EasyMesh, please let us know.
