Model: TL-WR902AC
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: TL-WR902ACv3_EU_0.9.1_0.4_up_boot[230223-rel5237]

Hi,

The 902 worked with my former Fritzbox 7490 in client mode.

With Fritzbox 7590 there is no connection:

Power LED lit, WLAN LED blinking forever

To fix the problem I tried this:

- Firmware update and start from from factory reset.

Minimal config with the quick assisstent for client mode with static IPV4 address from my home router's address band.

- Triple checked entered WLAN password.

- Tried channel 36 for 5 GHz WLAN. No connection.

Fritzbox runs 2,4 and 5 GHz with different WLAN names. WPA+WPA2

902 does not connect to both WLANs.

Multiple other WLAN devices do connect fine with both WLANs.

Any ideas what to check or try?

Regards

Peter

  @Peter_O

Hi,

Does the connection problem occur only in Client Mode or also in Range Extender Mode and Hotspot Mode (WISP Mode)?

What about the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi? Can the TL-WR902AC connect to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi of the Fritzbox 7590 in Client Mode?

Hi woozle,

thx for your reply. Sorry to answer late.

Your questions set me on the track.

Fiddled with WISP, switched between different WPA modes and finally got WISP to work by changing WPA-Mode on 902.

Back to Client Mode that one works too.

My best guesses what caused the problem:

a) Mismatch between WPA-modes of Fritzbox and 902. (Now WPA2+WPA3 and WPA2-PSK)

b) I had the 902 configured with a fixed IP inside the Fritzbox network, which I do for all devices with kind of central roles. It's now in Smart IP(DHCP) mode (and I configured the Fritzbox to grant the same IP every time). I've not tested with static IP again - never change a running system.

c) kind of crowded WLAN channels during the last test

Consider this thread as solved.

Thx again

Regards

Peter
