Model: Archer C5400
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.5 Build 20210308 rel.64655(4341)

In Canada with the C5400 and it's hot or miss with speed depending on firmware

Have Fiber 500mbps and originally on the latest firmware build offered by the tplink tether app: 1.2.9

Do not upgrade to this! My speeds immediately dropped to 200mbps.

I reverted back to build 1.2.5 off the tplink Canada site with Published Date: 2021-05-08 and things look to be working fine with expected speeds.

Also note that when you download 1.2.5, even though it's on the Canadian site, labeled as US, the file inside the zip folder is labeled as EU.

1.2.6 also was a failure.

Suffice to say I will likely not be buying tplink in the future. Hardware might be good but software is a nightmare.

  @Sanguinius

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.

May I know if both wired and wireless speed of the router drops or only wireless connection speed drops?

If the issue happens with wireless connections only, you could try changing wireless channel and channel width manually.

  @Sunshine  hello, thank you for your reply. It's both wired and wireless. It's as if the router limits speed coming from the modem.

TP Link never again.. I have an Archer 5400 and I have the same problem, it's chronic, the brand knows but doesn't do anything to fix it.. I don't recommend TPLINK ever again.
