Model: Archer C9
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 4.1.0 Build 20160517 Rel. 35411

I'm trying to troubleshoot a WDS on a C9 but upon every crash it resets time to 2016 and all logs are lost.

Is there any way to fix this or workaround to get my hands on the crash data?

When using WDS time can't be synchronized automatically because you're not using your C9 WAN anymore.

In this case the time should be set manually every time when you're building the WDS.

As for the crash log I doubt that you can access any crach data regarding WDS failure.

Here's the WDS building guide if this may help you in some way.

@terziyski Thanks for the suggestions. I am aware of the guide for WDS and my setup is in line with the instructions, which is why I want to look at the logs to see if there are any indications of what may be going on. The thing is that when the C9 crashes, time and date are reset to 2016 after having been set manually, and that all the logs get reset as well.

I got your point, actually C9 behaves as if it has been restarted - logs are cleared and the system time needs to be set manually again.

@terziyski This is normal for the C9? The reset on boot/crash?

I wouldn't know that, but you have to consider that WDS is not a standard across different vendors:

WDS may be incompatible between different products (even occasionally from the same vendor) since the IEEE 802.11-1999 standard does not define how to construct any such implementations or how stations interact to arrange for exchanging frames of this format.-----From Wikipedia
I noticed that you have an Archer C9 v1 which latest FW release is from 2016. An older FW release could be the reason for your issues as well.

@terziyski Yes, the firmware is old and probably won't be any further. Given that I have the C9 solely to use as a bridge, which isn't working, I might flash it to DD WRT.

This HW version is EoL and EoS (its latest FW release is as far as it can get) so you may try that if it works better for you.
