I would like to install ProtonVPN onto my Archer AX73 Router. The general instructions on ProtonVPN website to do is to use the VPN Client function of the router and to add username, password and a configuration file (which I downloaded from ProtonVPN website). I can do all this successfully, however after toggling the enable switch, the router stays on "Connecting" status and does not actually connect to ProtonVPN.

 

I was hoping someone here might be able to provide some assistance. Thanks.

So, literally 2 minutes after posting the above, I went to ProtonVPN Account to raise a support ticket and found OpenVPN Username and Password. Evidently, ProtonVPN does not accept account username & password outside of the app and so to use the VPN service, one needs to user the dedicated OpenVPN username and password. I did exactly that and viola, the VPN connected within 5 seconds. 

 

Hope this may help someone someday.
