just to answer my own query, I have updated the beta firmware (1.5.1 with signal selection) to 1.6.1 (which has security improvements). No problems doing this, took about 5 minutes. You lose the signal selection capability of 1.5.1 beta though.

Can you share "Update Deco" page screenshot from your Deco app, example:

You should be having signal selection capability with firmware 1.6, not sure what is going on. Just in case, power off all your Deco units and then after 4-5 minutes power them on, starting with Main Deco. After that, check if Connection Preference selection came back for Satellite Deco.

I have seen nothing new about it on this forum. Looks like to have have connection preference for S4 V2 you may need to rollback somehow to beta firmware 1.5.1 from here: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/651248
