Hi, any updates on the matter?

I have the very same issue. Trying to set up the CyberGhost VPN, it keeps connecting forever.

  @Kaishley

I was not able to solve the issue. The tp-link support has never been brought to a successful end, unfortunately. In the meanwhile, I changed my VPN provider and the issue didn't pop up with it.

Hello, did you manage to get this working? I was able to connect the KeepSolid VPN a while ago, but after the latest firmware update I have this issue. I have a Deco XE75.

I just wanted to voice out that this issue on Deco X50 is still happening. Issue is when you go to deco vpn client, adds a L2TP (Manual) like from vpn-unlimited/keepsolid. The configurations given, works on a different client OS X. But, when you plug it into Deco, it does not work as a VPN client,. It just says, connecting. Tried with different VPN Servers from KeepSolid, and they works on OS X. But, not on Deco X50. I think this should be addressed. Also to note, this works on previous firmware.

  @jlxm
I'm almost certain that the TP-Link OpenVPN and L2TP VPN Clients use authentication, but dont use encryption... this is not an options in the GUI and not documented anywhere.

This is hard coded into the VPN Client; but not documented... so even if you run your own VPN server, its imposible to configure it to support the encryption settings that the VPN client uses.

So in summary... they implemented a VPN client, but without any of the configuration options for Authentication/Encrpytion... while also failing to document the options that are hard coded in.

Another voice in the chorus. Tried putting VPN Unlimited/KeepSolid OpenVPN client on my Deco XE75 and its just stuck connecting. I can connect to the same server from my phone with the VPN Unlimited app, so I know the server is working.

Re:Vpn client stuck on connecting on deco x50
Yesterday

Good morning,

same problems here deco x50 firmware 1.6.1.
Unable to connect with NordVPN using WireGuard or OpenVPN

-WireGuard, no response ping
-OpenVPN unable to connect to the internet despite connected status!!

TP LINK and NordVPN support no one has been able to resolve the problem for 3 months!! while it worked before, it is impossible to go back with firmware (x50 rev1.0).

Oddly enough, I took out a 3-month subscription with Surfshark and it works correctly with a WireGuard connection!

How does tplink explain this?
tplink thank you for solving this problem which seems general to me so that I can put my main VPN back in operation...
THANKS
