Can the x50 PoE give power?
Hello community.
I recently got the x50 PoE and I am hoping you can help me rule out that it didn't brick my TV According to one comment by I think a Tplink community rep, x50 PoE cannot transmit power to devices. However, they said that as more of an "I think" rather than a definitive answer.
My issue is I have an 85 inch Sony Bravia TV. It worked well on WiFi and I never connected it through ethernet. Yesterday I thought OK I now finally will. The TV was off, or rather in "deep sleep" mode, which is the default for most these new smart TVs.
The x50 is powered through a PoE switch, TPlink SG1005p. I connected the Deco to the sleeping TV and clicked the remote to power on. I heard the TV respond to the click, as it should, but it never came on and the screen remained black. The TV would not power up at all thereafter.
Is it possible at all the x50 PoE was confused by the TV's asleep state? Or can I be sure that the x50 will never under any circumstances give power? Anyone else tested a similar setup, whereas you powered the deco through PoE and then connected it directly through ethernet to a smart TV? Thanks for reading.
