Hello,

 

Currently I am using single Deco M5 with wired connection from main router. Now I am thinking extending wired / wireless connection to Deco M9 from Deco M5.

 

  • Is that connection supported as mesh networking?
  • Will there be any degrade in performance due to 2 different model? (Agree on wireless speed on M5 will be lower compared to M9)

This connection is supported. I run at my house Deco mesh consisting of M5 and M9 Plus Deco units. They run together just fine.

 

It is recommended to make M9 Plus your new Main Deco, because M9 Plus is more powerful than M5 and emits stronger WiFi signal.

Seems like M9 plus is End Of Life.

 

One last questions, making Deco XE75 Pro as main deco and Deco M5 as satellite also works smoothly right?

Deco XE75 Pro two generations ahead of M5. They will work together, but can't promise it'll be smooth.

 

Instead, I would recommend to put aside (decomission) M5 and get pair of Deco X50 or X55 instead. They support WiFi6 and a good compromise between performance and price. In my region, they are currently on sale on Amazon with pair of Deco X50 just slightly expensive than single XE75 Pro.

 

If you are OK with that plan, you should check prices for both X50 and X55: X50 is very similar by specs to X55 but their prices for some reason could be different on Amazon. Get set of two for the lesser price.
