Model: TL-WR940N
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 3.20.1 Build 211111 Rel.32795n (4555)

Hello!

Is it somehow possible to switch settings in router from 10Mbps Full Duplex to 100Mbps Full Duplex? Or how else this problem could be solved?
I have an Internet speed 100Mbps, but router capped it to 10Mbps and even less. When I plugged Internet cable directly to notebook and check the speed on the speedtest.net, showed results over 90Mbps. So it's undoubtedly problem of router.

Also, I want to ask, probably I should buy other router if this model doesn't has the ability to switch this parameter? But in this case I need to know exactly, what kind of model has ability to work on 100Mbps Full Duplex or to be switchable?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

The TL-WR940N should auto-detect the highest possible speed. (10Mbps or 100Mbps)

If it automatically selects 10Mbps, then in most cases this is due to problems with the cable itself. (even if other devices, like your notebook, can work at 100Mbps with the same cable)

Have you already tried replacing the Ethernet cable with another one?

It's difficult to recommend another router model without knowing why the TL-WR940N can't work at 100Mbps, because in worst case the same issue could happen with another router model.

@woozle Thank you very much for response.

Is it possoble to switch this parametr manually? Or this setting work only automatically?

Not on the TL-WR940N.

But most newer router models from TP-Link have an option to set the negotiation speed of the Internet port manually. You can check particular models via the "Emulator" feature of the TP-Link product webpage.

However, if indeed the cable was not "good" enough for the router, then setting the speed to a higher value manually might result in the connection not working at all.
