Model: TL-WA850RE
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.0.12 Build 221109 Rel.31477n (6983)

We recently installed a TL repeater, it works wonders !

However once you want to connect back to the main router wifi with in a windows 10 computer it says it is connected to the network but is not receiving internet

If you turn off the repeater and connect to the main wifi while it is turned off you can still get internet when the repeater comes back on, but once you connect to the repeater you cannnot go back to the main wifi unless you turn of the repeater again.

If you try to ipconfig /renew it says

"The DHCP client has obtained an IP address that is already in use on the network. The local interface will be disabled until the DHCP client can obtain a new address."

but DHCP server in the repeater is turned of !

This is the map of the network

Network Map

This is a rural area in a tropical country, internet is a cable modem, it then goes to the router which has both a 2.4 ghz and a 5 ghz band, it gives wifi, then the repeater amplifies it to the rest of the property

This happens only on windows, and in all windows computers. I would be grateful if you can help me as this is beyond my current understanding. thank you in advance

*edit for clarity

Update your RE firmware to the latest release - TL-WA850RE(EU)_V7_1.0.13 Build 231115.

After a successful update reboot the main router then reboot the RE.

If the issue persists follow this story for configuring your RE.

  @terziyski

Just updating the firmware fixed it!

" Note:
1. Fixed the bug that clients can not access the Internet in some cases;
2. Fixed the bug that some IoT devices can't connect to 2.4G WiFi.  "

Bless you~
