Hi. I bought this newer version of Archer router a couple of weeks ago.

Since last firmware update I'm having recurring issues with Internet connectivity.

I don't have any issues with the Wifi connection.

 

I am connected to the Internet over PPPoE (with a high quality CAT cable connected to a fiber termination box)

I had called my Internet provider before posting this thread and got a message that the disconnect happens on the router's end and from their POV everything looks stable.

 

I've been using this particular service for 3 years now and I never had any issues with them, even with the previous Archer router.


I am on the verge of throwing this router through the window.
I work remotely, I need a stable Internet connection at all times.

  @Marvin_S whatever. The older TPLINK router works. Any other router works. I just bought an ASUS router and I'm throwing this tplink to trash.

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

There are a few different cases related with unstable connection, including WAN connection unstable and wireless client devices unstable.

According to your description, it seems to be WAN unstable connection.

May I confirm some details when the issue happens?

1. When the internet drops, what is the status of internet LED? Red/orange/green?

2. Make sure the Ethernet cable between your modem and the Router is connected properly, replaced old cables with new ones.

3.When the issue happens, login the web management interface of the Router, go to Advanced > Network > Internet. If the IP address is not 0.0.0.0, please go to Advanced Settings（same page）and change the two DNS Servers into 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8.

If the same issue persists, please contact local support with the result of the above troubleshooting steps.
