Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: Archer_AX73(US)_V1_1.3.5_Build_20231213

I am having a consistent ~5-10s disconnects every 30 minutes that is a real head scratcher. With my previous ISP, I used this AX73 router and RE605x extender for a year and a half with no issue using current standard firmware. I switched to a new ISP last week and now my router disconnects every 30 minutes. Due to having a dynamic IP address, I have not been able to try bridging yet (getting a static IP in 2 days), but I have tried using IP passthrough, some subport setup (this was new to me and I don't really understand it), or no configuration at all. In all cases, the router disconnects every 30 minutes for about 5 seconds. Further to this, this disconnect also affects my ISP router and causes everything from both devices to disconnect. If the AX73 is removed from the network then all devices work fine. Looking at the logs of both devices, the AX73 shows the following:

The log of my ISP router shows:

I'm not sure what is causing this issue and it is pretty frustrating. I tried changing my AX73 firmware to the one listed here: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/633288 and it did not make a difference. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Hi Marvin,

I was looking at that 5g wifi line in the log as well. After getting told repeatedly that the issue was not with the ISP router I ended up escalating my ticket to the highest level tech to get answers about the ISP router log. It is apparently a bug with that specific router where disabling the wifi radios requires multiple additional router reboots to resolve. The issue is now fixed. Sorry to waste your time!

Hi, thanks for posting your question here.

If your Archer AX73 is US version, you may update to the latest firmware version manually from the official website.

May I know who is your ISP and what is the model of your ISP router?

Then updating firmware does not help, please change AX73 into AP mode for a try.

Also, you may refer to the FAQ to troubleshoot and feedback us. BTW, when the internet drops, can you see orange led and can the router  AX73 restore internet connection automatically?

  @Marvin_S Hi Marvin,

My ISP is Sasktel and the ISP router is an Arris NVG448BQ. I have tried with that beta firmware as well as the two most recent firmwares but the problem still persists. I have now tried bridge mode as well as AP mode and the problem still persists. When the disconnect happens, the internet light (globe symbol with ring) turns orange for about 3 seconds and then goes back to green and the connection is down for about that long as well. I also got a new ISP router last night and that didn't fix the issue either. The log shows these steps repeating at 1801 seconds after the last step of the previous disconnect:

It looks like the issue is entirely with the ax73 but that seems like a weird way to fail since it is so consistently timed.

  @Marvin_S

I purchased a new ax73 v2 router and the issue is the same. This issue happens every 30 minutes on all firmware I have tried as well as in bridge mode, IP passthrough mode, and AP mode. I'm now going to try removing the range extender and see if it happens still. Looking like I will have to sell off all my TP link stuff and try another company.

Thanks for your updated and detailed feedback!

I understand your are upset, but hope the issue can be fixed.

After consulting the senior support to check the logs. It seems the issue is from the ISP router. We do not mean your ISP router is defective. Not sure the reason, but according to the log of your ISP router, you can see the connection is abnormal.

2024-06-10T13:38:54-06:00 L3 sdb[2560]: IPv6: conn[2].dhcps error sending signal to DHCPS(0)

2024-06-10T13:38:41-06:00 L3 wlcfg_rpcd[14636]: Received SIGTERM, calling shutdown

May I confirm the log of Archer AX73 you shared was after the issue happened?

Can you share the whole log of your ISP router and Archer AX73? And Is LAN2 port of your ISP router is connected to Archer AX73 directly?

Then the senior support can take further analysis. Thanks for your cooperation.
