I have one of these EAP245 units, for Canada - it's on old FW and would like to get it more up to date.

EAP245 3.0 / 5.0.5 Build 20220323 Rel. 68784(5553)

 

Now, when I look at the US and CA TP-Link websites I see different FW relases for the same HW version (3) (see lower), as well as this message:

Where does one get the latest version then?

Why does Canada website lag behind the US?

 

Please advise what is the latest official (non-beta/non-preview) FW for my v3 EAP245.

You can check the device label on the EAP245 itself. If it is the CA version, you can only update the firmware on the CA TP-Link website. The CA firmware is not the same as the US version. Therefore, they do not release new firmware at the same time. If you do not have any problems when using the unit, there is no need to update the firmware, you can keep the current firmware.

  @Hank21  thanks, what's the difference between Canada and US fw?

A v3 unit for us or canada would hve the smae hw i presume, so i dont see why it wouldn't work.

 

I'm full on for the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but these days fw adresses security issues and new features.

 

I'm running a release from 2.years ago, "latests* and find it questionable why the US gets a new release but not Canada. 

 

Why is that? Pretty much any hw platform would have recieved a fw update just for security patches/fixes, bit not this??
