Hi there, 

 

Is there a way to connect a RJ11 connected VOIP phone to a 2nd router (i.e. VR2100v) configured in bridge/AP mode?

 

For Example in order of preference:

 

1) Main router (Archer AX55 Pro) wired to the 2nd modem/router (VR2100v with RJ11 input) connected directly to the DECT phone.

 

2) Main router (Archer AX55 Pro) wired to the 2nd modem/router (VR400 without RJ11 input) connected indirectly to the DECT phone via an ATA.

 

3) Main router (Archer AX55 Pro) indirectly connected to DECT phone via an ATA and wired to the 2nd router (VR400).

 

Does the AX55 even have telephony capabilities for this task?

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

I am afraid that Archer AX55 Pro is a common wireless router, it have no any function related to VoIP.

You may use Archer VR2100v directly and set up VoIP feature following this guide.

So just to be clear, the VR2100v will not be able to deliver it's telephony capabilities if it is in AP mode?

 

I.e. Does the VR2100v have to be the root router in order to deliver VOIP or can it be the 2nd router and still work for VOIP

VR2100v according its specs has two operating modes: DSL modem router and Wireless router.

To configure VoIP services VR2100v should be used in DSL modem router mode and it has to be the main router.

If the router doesn't have VoIP capabilities then you should use an ATA device to be able to use the VoIP services provided by the ISP.

When using an ATA device it shouldn't matter whether it's connected to the main router or a second device in AP mode.
