Hello TP-Link Engineers

I found out that we cannot specify Device name under Address Reservation of DHCP Server.

It seems that there was already exist the similar thread back in 2021 and now is 2024, the issues sill doesn't resolve to enable to user to add the alias name or description of the reserved device.

It only added device name when it's added through "Connected Device", but I still wish to add the description of what exactly the device is when managing.

  @Richard96

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

Because the Device Name here needs to be consistent with Network Map-> Clients->Connected devices-> Device Info, so you may edit Device Name under Network Map.

  @Marvin_S

Why it wouldn't do like as Archer C5400, having extra 'Description' field , so it doesn't affect the consistency of the network map.

Your suggested way is when the device is connected in the network, what if I've a hundreds of devices from the connected map and I'll need to waste my time to find the reserve device MAC address from the Connected device list to rename it???

See image below snapshot from Archer C5400 interface, that 'Description' field is handy but it's not in BE550!

Ask your developer to put back that field in it. It's not going to affect the Device name if the 'Description' field is isolate from others.
