Model: RE500X
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Installed today my RE500X to extend my 2.4Ghz Wifi6 network. Unfortunately the repeater creates a Wifi6 network ONLY for the 5Ghz band! It's written nowhere it's ax/WiFi 6 only on 5Ghz band. It must be WiFi 6 for both bands. Or it's mine not working?

I can't use 5ghz due to some interferences in my environment.

Hi,

2.4G does not support WIFI6.

You can check its wireless standard.

Hi,

As a general rule for your future purchases, Wi-Fi products marketed as "AX1500" only support Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) on the 5 GHz band. This also applies to products of other manufacturers who've decided to offer such a hardware configuration.

The next class above AX1500 that supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) on both bands is usually marked as "AX1800".

But in any case, it's always a good idea to check the manufacturer's product specification in detail before purchase, because there are some odd configurations available on the market.

  @Sunshine  thank you

Anyhow it's this device limitation (that I couldn't see on amazon when purchased it). It says its a Wifi6 repeater mentioning 2.4 and 5ghz networks.

In fact the 802.11ax standard works with both frequencies.

I'm on my main router now (a zte) at 2.4Ghz Wifi6.

I will return it.

  @woozle Ok and thanks.

Apparently I fell into the Marketing trap ! :-) On Amazon it is not clear enough and despite normally look at the specs this time I was too light in clicking "purchase".

WiFi6 is everywhere in the box and information, 2.4Ghz should be "asterisked"* since the AX1500 is not a standard, WiFi6/802.11ax is, so people can't assume.
