Model: Deco E4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.6.1

Running a 3 piece mesh network. Currently the main router is connected to the modem in an office at the front of the house, a satellite in the living room in the middle of the house, and another satellite in a bedroom in the back of the house.

Issue is the satellite in the back bedroom is trying to connect to the main office connection, despite being very far apart with lots of walls in between. This results in an extremely low signal and low speeds.

How can I update to have the S4 satellite in the back connect to the satellite in the living room? Ideally would like it to go Office>Living Room>Bedroom.

  @Alexandre.

if the original poster has V2 of the S4 then to get signal source selection he must update to the 'latest' beta version of the firmware found here:

  @Scampy74

There is Connection Preference feature which will let you do that, but it is not available on some of Deco models. Feature is described here: How to select a preferred signal source on the Deco App

You will see that option in Deco app only when all Deco units in your Deco mesh support it.

It is not clear what Deco models you have: you list E4 in model name, then mention S4 in your post. I suggest you make screenshot of Update Deco page and post it here, it'll help to figure what you actually have.

Example of that page:

  @Alexandre. Thank you for your assistance. I hadn't seen S4 as an option when selecting my model, so tried to choose the closest thing to it. Here's the screenshot from my app

With firmware 1.6.1, you should be able to see Connection Preference option in your Deco app.

  @Alexandre. Where can you see that? I'm not seeing that option anywhere in the app

Can you also check hardware version of your Deco S4, I am guessing you got all them as a single set so they should all be same hardware. If not same set, you'll have to check them all.

See How to find the hardware version on a TP-Link device

  @Vanellus that is exactly what I needed! I upgraded to the beta firmware and then had the ability to customize the connection preferences. Thank you both so much for taking the time to help fix my issues.
