Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Please note I and very new to this area of computing. I also much older that than Stone Henge and I am doing this as a hobby, to pass the time and keep my hand in. Please make allowances for my lack of knowledge.

I have a TP-Link Archer AX73 router which I use with my Windows 11 PC and many other devices in my Home network. I have connected a 1TB M.2 SSD, formatted NTFS, to the router and, after setting-up the router, the AX73 web page displays the following information.

  1. Storage Status

Name of USB drive

Network Drive G:      (I am not sure why G is chosen!- I already gave a drive G: on mu PC)

Memory, size and amount used

  1. Access Method

Name TP-Share

Samba enabled

Address 192.158.0.1 (same as router)

Port - blank

Local FTP enabled

Address ftp//192.168.0.1:

Port 21

Internet FTP not enabled

  1. File Sharing enabled

Folder is ticked

Network Drive G:

  1. Secure Sharing

admin password given (hidden)

Visit password given (hidden)

Username not given (Is it TP-Share?)

  1. Media Sharing enabled

On my Windows 11 PC I have, I think, set up all necessary Sharing Settings.

When I open File Explorer and go to Network, I see several devices including one called TP-Share

If I open TP-Share I am presented with a page as follows

MiniDLNA Status

Media Library

Audio files = 0

Video files = 0

Image files = 0

Connected Clients

ID = 0

Type = generic UPnP 1.0

Address = 192 168.0.8     (this is the IP address on my Windows 11 PC that I am currently using)

HW address = MAC address of my Windows 11 PC

I then opened a File Explorer page showing the C: drive on my Windows 11 PC and arranged the TP-Share and Drive C: windows side by side.

Finally, I dragged a few files from my C: drive to the TP-Share drive. A small window popped up in the TP-Share window which appeared to show the file transfer taking place. After each file was (apparently) transferred, the name of the file popped up in the TP-Share drive window and then immediately disappeared.

Is this all as per normal or what have I done wrong?

How can I see the files I have copied (if the files were copied OK) to the router USB drive?

Any helpful comments or reading suggestions welcome

Many thanks
