It's a terrible access point because it slows down the Wi-Fi speed  just a short time after each reboot, until you need to reboot it again. I suggest someone looks into this.

The set up is an Ethernet via powerline to Ax10 ( single). Speed rapidly drops to 1mbps and then drops any attempt to connect to anything major on the web, such as YouTube.

Support articles don't seem to offer much hope, but would disabling QoS help? Or turn off Upnp?

I'm back to an Archer C9 as access point...much faster

  Just to add: it's Ethernet from the router. Which is a way away, hence the need for a new Wi-Fi ssid facility to cover what the router cannot.

Yes, you can disable QoS and UPnP on the Deco. And you can also change the Ethernet cable between the Deco and main router.

It's in access point mode. And the cable has been transmitting plenty high enough speeds pre X10. Indeed for a very short time the unit works well. It then deteriorates, cutting the download speeds to unusably small, but upload can still do 20. 

Is it worth disabling UpnP and/or QoS? I might try. But it seems a long shot.

Update , now it works.

After a night in its box, and after I swapped powerline units around ( all TP link, all equal capability) it works. I didn't change its cable..

I don't understand what made the difference, but it's now ok. Not really much faster than the 10/12 yr old Archer i was using, but hopefully more reliable.
