Deco upgrade feasibility question
Hello. I'm looking to buy a Wifi 7 capable Deco unit within the next few months. Wanted to get opinions on whether this will be useful for my current set up or not.
I basically have three internet service providers, all running in one home network. There is no load balancing of any sort involved as most solutions I've tried that address this, from Edge routers, to the ER line of routers, don't exactly deliver results consistent enough for me to be happy with, are too slow, or simply do not respond in the expected way. Add to this the fact that ISP connections in my region of the world have a higher chance of going offline all of a sudden, the need to immediately find out which connection isn't working at any given time (so that a call to the ISP can be made ASAP) is always present. Liveness, connection quality and response, are far more prioritized over maximum connection speed.
So right now the set up is as follows:
Connection 1: ISP router -> BE230 (DHCP enabled) -> switch
Connection 2: ISP router -> another BE230 (DHCP disabled) -? switch
Connection 3: same as connection 2
The entire home network is wired.
All SSIDs are the same across all wireless enabled routers. EasyMesh has not been turned on though I tried it once making connection 1's BE230 the master unit, and it seems that the two other redundant ISP gateways can be pointed to without any issues.
All other family members use connection 1 by default. All my personal PCs and servers use connection 2 (gateway and DNS manually set in all devices). All our mobile devices use connection 3 (gateway and DNS manually set in all devices). At any given time, an ISP connection that goes down becomes obvious right away. Switching to another ISP connection becomes a simple matter of changing one digit in your device's gateway settings.
My question is, if say, I buy a 5-pack Deco mesh system and set 3 of them to Wifi Router mode, each one having their own distinct gateways, while the other two will serve as satellites to the main Deco unit, will their wireless performance be any different from me setting all other units to satellite AP mode (1 master + 4 satellites)?
The two other backup ISP connections are connected to units that don't assign IP addresses anyway and can be manually pointed to on any device. Is there going to be any fundamental difference from having 3 units running on Wifi Router mode versus only one in the latter case?
Currently looking at BE85 and BE95.
