Model: TL-PA4010 KIT
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.0.2134-00_401091_160311_906

I have recently switched my ISP from BT to SKY.

When using BT, I had my PC plugged into LAN 1 on the router and a TL-PA4010 in LAN 2. I had 2 other TL-PA4010s paired with the one connected to the router to provide wired connections in other parts of the house. Everything worked OK, as well as the tpPLC utility that gave me a schematic of the adaptors.

On switching to SKY, I've reset the adaptors and paired them again and they all work OK with one of them in LAN 2 and my PC in LAN 1. However, the tpPLC utility now does not find the adaptors. The TP-Link chat line agent said that this was because my PC needed to be be plugged into an adaptor rather than the router, but had no idea why it worked previously. Has anyone got any suggestions to make it work as I'd prefer the PC was plugged directly into the router.

did sky provide you with a different router?

from what i've worked out the tpplc mostly uses broadcasts & layer2 to communicate, since some devices don't even have an ip address. and it also seems to use an ethertype that's not all that common. (managed switches have a tendency to drop these).

my best guess would be that the router is either not forwarding broadcast to ethernet ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff , which would be strange. or is not forwarding to 00:b0:52:00:00:01, which is less strange since that's the mac atheros devices use in boot mode, or doesn't like the ethertype you're using.

i had a look at the pa4010 manual & from what i can deduce it doesn't seem  to have an ip stack, so you'll need tpplc to access it. otoh , how often do you need tpplc? if seldom could just replug your pc at that time.

if it's actually one of the above issues a cheap unmanaged switch in the router and your pc & tp pla adapter in that switch might solve it as well.
