Model: Deco XE75 Pro
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I had a question about the SSID. I read online that you can not create separate SSIDs on these Decos. I was wanting to upgrade my current Netgear Nighthawk router with the XE75pro or larger 6E mesh system. I have lots of security cameras, smart plugs, smart lights, and maybe 50 different things that ONLY work on the 2.4G network. When I set them up over the years, I had to set each one to log onto the 2.4G band. My question is...

Will all my stuff still work on the this Deco mesh system since I can not make a separate 2.4G SSID? I had planned to name the 2.4G band on the Deco mesh system the same as my current 2.4G band and make the password the same that way I did not have to round up 50 devices and change each one. Some devices I set up a decade ago and don't even remember how I did it. I was hoping to have a 2.4g SSID and a 5g SSID and use the 6g for the back traffic. Is this even possible? I am not too smart with this stuff but I will figure it out if it is possible. Thanks,  Shane

According to TP-Link documentation (which sometimes is not up to date) Deco XE75 Pro should support feature called IoT Network, which is exactly what you need: separate SSID running on 2.4GHz band only. More about this feature here: What is an IoT Network?

I suggest getting XE75 Pro from the place with return policy, as feature set for Deco is hit and miss and one can't be 100% sure if specific feature is there until Deco mesh is running. You'll see from the article I shared that it is easy to find if Deco mesh supports IoT Network or not.

Deploy first Deco unit from the set you get, this will be Main Deco, check its configuration settings in Deco app and you'll see. If feature is not there, return Deco set to retailer.
