There are two methods to update firmware for TP-Link Archer Router:
Online Upgrade:
1) Using the web management interface, go to Advanced -> System Tools -> Firmware Upgrade to check for online updates.
2) Using the Tether APP, go to Tools -> System > Firmware Upgrade to check for online updates.
Manual Upgrade:
1) Download the firmware from our official website:
2) Login the web management interface of the Router, go to Advanced -> System Tools -> Firmware Upgrade, upload the downloaded firmware and start the upgrade.
Note: If you wish to downgrade your firmware and the current firmware version allows for downgrading, the process typically follows the same steps as a manual firmware upgrade.

Upgrade the Firmware
If the upgrade is failed, please refer to the below troubleshooting steps:
For"online upgrade" failed:
1) Change the Router's DNS settings, login the web management interface of the Router, go to Advanced > Network > Internet, change the two DNS servers into 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1.
2) Reboot the Router and try again, if it still fails, please reach out to TP-Link support for further instructions.
For "manual upgrade" failed:
1) Please make sure the firmware matches your router model as different hardware version might not share the same firmware.
2) Use another browser and try again.

If the router has no internet or internet is offline, please try the steps below:
Orange/Red Internet light on the router:
1. Identify whether your router or ISP is the problem by connecting your PC directly to the modem to check the internet access. If the Internet is not working, Contact your ISP.
2. Turn off the Modem and the Router, then power on the Router, Turn on the modem once the router is fully powered on.
3. Log in to the web UI via http://tplinkwifi.net and follow the Quick Setup to set it up.
4. Please go to Advanced > Network > Internet > Mac Clone to clone the MAC address of your PC. Please follow the FAQ:

Green Internet light on the router:
1. Log in to the web management interface of the router (http://tplinkwifi.net), go to Advanced > Network > Internet > Advanced Settings > Change the DNS Servers into 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8.
2. Turn off the Modem and the Router, then power on the Router, Turn on the modem once the router is fully powered on.
