Hi Folks. We all know there is no way to disable the Deco DHCP (absolute junk I know). I've been using the hack to fill the dhcp pool with fake registrations in a hope to exhaust the deco dhcp and run my own dhcp server, It partially works for me. In my case clients connected to iot and mlo ssids get addresses from my dhcp. The 2.5/5ghz and 6ghz ssid connected clients are NOT able to get addresses. Is there anyone out there using the hack with complete success?

I'm completely disappointed with tplink and its implementation. I expected more and will move away from its ecosystem. This is a feature that should be available on any router.

@jijookhier I then lose the router capabilities. I'd have to add another router to my network just because tplink won't allow me to disable dhcp. It might be a good option for tplink but it's a nasty one for me.

Makes me wonder why you chose Deco.

Same here. But you could forgive me for assuming disable dhcp would be a basic feature. This is the first "router" I've come across that doesn't support external dhcp.

@JPR99 I is just giving out ip's. You can define the pool, you can fix ip's to a certain address and you can set custom nameservers. What makes the Deco a bad dhcp server?

@jijookhier I want my dhcp and dns integrated so clients are registered with dns records. I want to reverse lookup an IP so I can quickly identify clients on my network. I also require bootp to allow some systems to boot off network. The tplink implementation is sorely lacking. I can even see/set a lease time.

@JPR99 you want all that, but you don't want to setup your own router (comment #3). You are not making a lot of sense tbh.

Just choose AP-mode and do the rest yourself.

Deco is designed as a simple to use domestic device. It suits 99.9% of requirements for home users whilst keeping it simple to deploy.

It sounds to me like you need something a bit more towards the commercial.
