TL-WA850RE slow speed - Extender connected to router via ethernet cable
My TL-WA850RE extender is connected to the router via ethernet cable. My normal internet speed is about 14 mbps. But when I connect to extender's Wi-fi, my speed is about 8 mbps.
I thought because extender is directly conencted to the router via ethernet cable, I would get better speed. Why is there a loss of about 6mbps?

Hi @keremcanb
Is the 14mbps you mentioned the wired speed from the router or the wireless speed?
If it is the wired speed from the router, it cannot be equated with the wireless speed; generally speaking, the wireless speed of a device is lower than the wired speed.
If it is the wireless speed, have you tested the actual wired speed obtained by the range extender from the router? You can use a PC to test the same Ethernet cable to confirm the wired speed of the router. We recommend using the http://www.speedtest.net for testing speed accurately. Speedtest APP/CLI tools (https://www.speedtest.net/apps/) would be better.

@Joseph-TP It is both wired and wireless speed of the router. If I connect to router via ethernet cable, I get 14 mbps. Also if I'm near the router and connect via Wi-fi, I get almost the same speed. But with TP-Link I get much lower. I can understand there can be some speed loss, but I think a loss of 6 mbps is too much.

If your WA850RE is connected to your router via etehrnet cable the RE should be configured in AP mode.
With ISP bandwidth of 14 mbps RE wireless speed should be nearly the same as if your are connected wirelessly directly to your router.
You didn't mention your RE firmware version - make sure you're with the latest TL-WA850RE(EU)_V7_1.0.13 Build 231115.

With all this configured, the only explanation of this phenomenon would be that your router has negotiated 10 mbps with the WA850RE - you should be able to check that in your router WebGUI - details.
You can also double check your wirelesss negotiated speed to the WA850RE:
