Model: Archer A10
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:
  1. I set up a TP Link ID and then wanted to change the password for the Router, because the advice was that the out of the box password is not secure.
  2. When I login to TP Link ID, it says that "router is not bound to the current TP Link ID. Enter the router login password to bind for management" .
  3. I entered the password on the base of the router, which I think is the "local password".
  4. The response was "Incorrect password"
  5. I reset the router by pressing the reset button for 20 seconds.  I got an orange indicator light for wifi on the router, so I turned the router of, left it for 10 minutes, turned it back on.  I got all 4 green lights back.
  6. I deleted browser history.
  7. I re-entered the password on the base of the router, which I think is the "local password"
  8. I got the same response: : "Incorrect password"

I am not sure how unsafe it is to not change the password, I also note that every time I login to http://tplinkwifi.net or into http://192.168.0.1  my browser tells me that the site is not secure.

For the purpose of this post, I was meant to fill in the firmware version, I have no idea what that means or where to find it...

Can anyone help me please?

 Hi @bumper,

If you have forgotten the admin/login password, you may hard reset the router by pressing and holding the reset hole/button at its back till all lights turn on momentarily.

After you reset the router, you can create new login password and bind it to TP-Link ID.

If you want to check firmware of router, please click here.
