I recently bought a TL-MR3020 and L800 4G USB stick to use with it and it's not yet working :(

At first the TL-MR3020 was saying the L800 is 'unrecognised' in the TL-MR3020's control panel page and there was no APN settings for EE (UK) in the setup screen. Then I updated the TL-MR3020 firmware to the latest version available and now there is APN settings for EE and it does say 'Identified' after a few moments when I connect the 4G stick, but there's still no actual internet connection - where it's supposed to say the IP address, gateway etc. for the 4G stick's connection is just says 0.0.0.0...

I'm not sure but I think that the TL-MR3020 firmware doesn't quite support this stick...yet. I'm hoping that TP-Link HURRY UP and release a new firmware that will properly support the L800.

I did speak to their technical support and they said I might need a BIN file for the L800, and they sent me a download link for a program that only runs on Windows XP) that's supposed to be able to extract a BIN file from the L800 which can then be uploaded to the TL-MR3020, but I haven't yet been able to use it properly as I don't have a computer with Windows XP on it, only an Apple Mac with a Windows 7 virtual machine running on it.

Just a couple of points - the L800 works fine when connected directly to my computer - I'm getting about 30Mb/s down AND up which is awesome for mobile internet, and also I have an older Huawei 3G stick which does work fine with the TL-MR3020.

Also I'm assuming that the TL-MR3020 has the same kind of firmware as the router you have bought...

Can anyone shed nay light on this? OR provide us with a BIN file for the L800 pleeeease? And TP-Link please HURRY up and release a new firmware that properly supports the Alcatel L800!!!

Does anyone know if there has been any progress on this. I just bought a 3420, and find that I cannot get it to communicate with my EE L800 4G Dongle. The dongle is active and connected, but EE does not appear in the setup list, and adding the EE connection details manually does not work.

mk17, if EE is not in the setup list, you might want to update to the latest firmware (if you haven't already) because I had that issue with my TL-MR3020 but when I installed the latest firmware, EE did show up in the list, but I still couldn't actually get the internet connection to work. It seems TP-Link are good at pumping out new devices to the market that should work, but their after ales support seems crap.

Quick update: I had an email chat with TP-Link support, they are extremely helpful and professional, but unfortunately I'll be waiting for a firmware upgrade. Although I'll probably see if I can find an alternative router instead.

There is an open-source firmware which you download from here: http://ofmodemsandmen.com/downloads.html

Install the firmware as if it was a TP-Link firmware upgrade, then once installed, go to the router's admin page.

Then go to the modem section, add the EE APN settings, and you should be good to go, worked for me!

So much for TP-Link's own tech support - rubbish!

I can confirm that the Huntsman firmware works well the the L800. Just a shame that the guys at TP-Link haven't managed to get it working yet.

I've tried using the huntsman firmware (both red and yellow) on TL-MR3420 V2, but I still can't connect to the internet using Alcatel Onetouch L800. I'm using apn=everywhere for EE 4G network and it seems that I still can get it connected to the internet. It also cannot detect the modem signal. How do you make it work?:confused:

I don't know if you're still having problems, but it turns out the default IP address of the Huntman Firmware is the same as the Alcatel L800 - so, if you change the system IP of the router, it suddenly springs into life. (Well, it did in my case)

its easy, here i show how to do it (before that, sorry for my bad english):

(1) first, after flashing the huntsman red, configure your router by setting the new router IP adress. default router IP adress is 192.168.1.1 right? change the IP adress of the router to 192.168.2.1. check this website on how to change the router IP adress http://ofmodemsandmen.com/configure.html

(2) after you change the router IP adress, reboot the router and try out the new IP adress. the old IP adress 192.168.1.1 should shown nothing as it router already change new IP to 192.168.2.1. When successfully changed, log in to your router, set the Huntsman modem APN by going to Modem > Connection. After set the APN, saved. While setting the new APN, do not insert the L800 modem onto the USB slot of the router.

(3) After setting the APN and saved the changes, you may then insert L800 into USB slot of the 3420. As for me, my L800, I set it to be automatically connected when inserted into USB slot. after insert, using browser, try to route to 192.168.1.1. you may get your modem L800 log in page. At this time, you should already get an internet connection while connecting to 3420.
