Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20231229 Rel 43148

I have been using the X55 for my home network for the past three months, and I've encountered a frustrating issue with connectivity drops between two of my satellites. Specifically, this problem primarily affects the satellite located on the second floor of my home.

At least once a month, I notice that the connection between the second-floor satellite and the nearest satellite suddenly drops from medium signal strength to weak. This significant drop in connectivity leads to almost a 50% reduction in internet speed for any device connected to that satellite.

To temporarily resolve this issue, I have to forget both satellites and then re-add them to the network. While this works, it's inconvenient and disruptive, especially since it requires time and effort to set everything back up, lots of home devices are connected to the network like the AC system, TV's etct etc

Normally this is my Network MAP:

When the issue happens this is how the network map looks like :

I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced similar issues or if there are any potential solutions to improve the stability and reliability of the connection between the satellites. Thank you for any advice or insights you may have!

With Deco X55 you can manually configure how satellites connect to each other, using connection preference feature: How to select a preferred signal source on the Deco App

I have tried that previously, didn't help.

In that case you should check Hallway Deco power supply, if it is plugged to power bar (not recommended) and everything related to electrical wiring around that Deco. If you are using Connection Preference feature to force Bedroom Deco connect to Hallway, the only reason I can think of for Bedroom to connect to Living room would be if Hallway Deco went offline, even briefly.

Even if that happens, recovery should not be that painful. All you would need to do is power off and on Bedroom Deco, on restart it will follow Connection Preference configuration and connect to Hallway. This is if Hallway is online and healthy at that moment, of course.

  @Alexandre.

Thanks for your inputs,

The whole system is connected to wall power outlets, an I have never gotten a notification on the app that a satellite has been disconnected.

For what's its worth, I purchased the X55 from Amazon US, and using it in the MEA region (Bahrain).

I cross posted in r/TpLink, some one suggested that I'm having an old firmware version, I checked the app and it says I'm on the latest, but when I checked the origin region site (US), it says the latest is 1.4.0 Build 20240718

Would you suggest upgrading manually?

Firmware upgrade is standard recommendation, so my answer is: yes, you should.

I would also suggest to swap two Satellites. Remove them from Deco mesh, swap units with their power supplies, add to Deco mesh with new names (old Bedroom will be new Hallway), configure Connection Preference on new Bedroom to connect to new Hallway.

If problem repeats itself, this will prove it is not related to Deco unit hardware, but to place where current Hallway Deco is.
