tl-sg108 8 port unmanaged switch - LED's

Hi all, I picked up a tl-sg108 8 port unmanaged switch second hand, and I have a question about it please? I have it connected directly, to my fibre router, all seems to be working just fine, except for one oddity.....
There is a single green LED, at each of the 8 ports, if an device is plugged into a port, the LED flashes, as I would expect, and I have 4 such devices plugged in. However, the router to switch cable, irrespective of which port I plug it into, the LED does not light up at all, no flashing, nothing. Is this normal, or does it suggest a problem please?

From switch installation guide:
Q2. The Link/Act LED is not lit when a device is connected to the corresponding port.
It is recommended that you check the following items:
A1: Make sure that the cable connectors are firmly plugged into the
switch and the device.
A2: Make sure the connected device is turned on and works normally.
A3: The cable must be less than 100 meters long (328 feet).

According to description from the user guide, the port should work as any other port where a device is connected (light up).
But as you said - there's no problem when using the switch and you don't have to worry about that.

@M1BYT For those considering an upgrade, sometimes choosing the right adapter feels like a but with these specs, the decision just got a lot easier! 🔥 Looking forward to seeing real-world performance and user feedback.

If everything is working fine and devices have internet access, it’s likely just a minor LED issue or a cosmetic fault with that specific port’s indicator, not a real connection problem.

@M1BYT Deep in the menu is the option to turn off the LED. Can't find it today but remember it from set up, tempting but confusing during fault finding.

Good catch - check here:
but that is for easysmart TL-SG108E switch. Actually the OP has an unmanaged TL-SG108.

That sounds normal for the TP-Link TL-SG108, especially since it’s an unmanaged switch with simple status LEDs. The LED indicators show link activity only when both connected ports actively negotiate a connection at the same speed and duplex. If your devices on the switch are working fine and have network access through the router, then the link is definitely active — the LED might just not light up because of how that particular port-to-port connection is being detected. Try swapping the Ethernet cable or using a different port to confirm it’s not a physical connection issue. If everything still works properly, there’s likely no fault, just a quirk in how the switch’s LED behavior interacts with your router’s port.
