Hi, i'm new to this. I have 2 Archer C7 routers and want to set one of them as a wireless bridge but it is not working.
Here is the steps I used:
Archer C7 (NO1) - Connected to my main desktop
Archer C7 (NO2) - trying to establish a bridge with Archer C7 (NO1)
1) Archer C7 (NO1) - Connected to my main desktop (Running Windows 8.1)
- i can get internet and everything is working. I have wifi signal on both 2.4 and 5 ghz band and all my devices can connect to it.
- IP: 192.168.0.1
- Security type set to WPA/WPA2-personal and set to Automatic Recommend
- Encryption - AES
- Password - ******** (which is what i use to login to my wifi)
2) Archer C7 (NO2) - trying to establish a bridge with Archer C7 (NO1)
1) using a different laptop i connect LAN cable to LAN port of router and login to tplinklogin.net. Turned off wifi so the only connection is to Archer C7 (#2) router
2) Clicked on Dual Band Selection and selected only 2.4 ghz band and pressed saved
3) Clicked on 5 ghz settings and turned off broadcast SSID and clicked saved
4) Clicked on 2.4 ghz settings and set as follows:
- SSID - ******** (same as Archer C7 (NO1))
- Country - Hong Kong (same as Archer C7 (NO1))
- Band - Mixed b/n/g (same as Archer C7 (NO1))
- Channel Width - Automatic(same as Archer C7 (NO1))
- Channel - 11 (same as Archer C7 (NO1))
5) Clicked enable WDS bridge and Clicked on Survey and found my Archer C7 (NO1)
6) Pressed connect and the blanks were filled in
7) Password - i typed the 8 digit PIN# on the bottom of of my Archer C7 (NO1) - is this what i need to enter? coz i can only enter in numbers
8) Clicked Save
9) Clicked Wireless security on the 2.4ghz
10) clicked WPA/WPA2-personal and Automatic Recommend
11) Encrytion - AES
12) Password - ******** (same as Archer C7 (NO1) - used to login to my wifi)
13) Clicked Save
13) Clicked DHCP - set to disable and Clicked Saved
14) Clicked Network - LAN - Set IP to 192.168.0.2 - clicked save and reboot.
After reboot i try to ping Archer C7 (NO1) - ping 192.168.0.1
But below reply show:
pinging 192.168.0.1 with 32 bytes of data:

With network cable still plugged into my laptop on Archer C7(NO2) in the LAN Port, i cannot get internet. What am i doing wrong?
Thanks.
