Connectivity light intermittently changing from green to red

Hi,
I managed to pair my devices ok and getting all green lights. The problem is after a while the connectivity status reverts from green to red. Its an issue for me when streaming HD content around my home. My internet speed is good (17 down 2 up).
I have also installed the powerline utility but only get one of the plugs showing when scanning my network.
Any help greatly appreciated
