TL-PA451KIT - loss of signal/internet access drops fairly regularly

Hi,
I have recently purchased a pair TL-PA451KIT adapters (TP-LINK TL-PA451KIT AV500).
The units achieve terrific speeds, but I experience loss of signal/internet access drops fairly regularly, for anything between 30 seconds and 5 minutes.
When it happens, I can’t ping my router, and have to go through the network diagnostic steps on Win7 to resume internet access, although to be honest I don’t think the Win7 diagnostics actually cure the problem - the powerline adapter just starts working again of its own accord.
I have the latest firmware, and have tested these on different sockets throughout my home.
Is this a known problem? I have noticed a few forum posts elsewhere of people suffering from the same issue as me.
Can anyone advise on steps to resolve this please?
Yours sincerely,
JC

Ah, OK. I wish I still had the adapters to try the PING exercise.
Keep us posted on any other findings.

I have a similiar experience with my PA511. If I ping i can watch a entire movie without problems. If i stop the ping, I get buffering issues in my movies.
Seems like a lighter version of your problem.

Thanks Zappe, it seems we have a basic fix to this issue then - I've been running with ping the last 5 days and no dropouts, stopped it again this morning and my connection had dropped within an hour :)

Same issue here with my v1 TL-PA411's - found the same solution too :-)
It seems a pretty serious fault though - I hope there is a new firmware to fix the issue fairly soon.

Hi Coredump,
I got an email from TP-Link this morning with a firmware attached ( http://global.level1.com/500Mbps/PLI-4052/p-2851.htm - scroll down and click downloads, firmware 1.1.0.848-02) which I popped on my 411 4 hours ago and it hasn't disconnected yet so fingers crossed!
I was a bit apprehensive about installing it given it doesn't appear to relate to the 411 at all but I have another adapter I could have used if the upgrade went bad... no issues at all during the firmware upgrade, just had to pair it with the one connected to my router again :)

I can confirm the firmware identified in my post above has been stable for 1 day - not a single drop out - this is a very positive result!

:( First drop out 36 hours of using new driver - on a positive note it resolved itself within a couple of seconds without me having to power cycle the powerline adapter.

TL-PA411, same problem...
2014-02-07 21:00:35
I just sent this mail to TP-LINK:
"I recently bought this set, and I use it for one of my set-top boxes. The other STB is connected to the router by a direct wire.
I bought this set, as it was smaller in size than my previous model from D-Link, and I was not disappointed bye the size. However, I've noticed a very annoying problem. Every now and then the data flow from/to the STB connected with TL-PA411 is stopping up for a second, or maybe even 20 seconds, before it runs as normal again.
After recommendation from the seller, I did update the firmware to TL-PA411KIT_V2_130821, but it didn't make any difference.
What might the problem be? Everything else is working just fine, and if I put back my old Powerline system from D-Link, there's no problems either.
Thank you very much"
I saw you guys mention something about being able to set the power off function... Is there any software for this..?

Hi Nick,
Thanks for that link - that seems to have sorted the problem for me.
Relived things are working now, but there must be lots of people who have bought TL-PA411s and who either can't figure out what is going wrong, or don't know how to fix it.
TP-Link really need to sort out an official update pretty quickly ....

Registered on this forum a few minutes ago with the exact same problem, and the firmware update seems to have worked - was also very easy to do and not as fiddly as I had expected. In actual fact, we seem to be getting a faster connection than before.
