Model: TL-WA850RE
Hardware Version: V7
Firmware Version: 1.0.13 Build 231115 Rel.51785n (6985)

Dear All,

I have (Archer AX55 v1.0) with Firmware (1.3.3 Build 20240628 rel.37017(4555)) as a main router, and TL-WA850RE V7 with Firmware (1.0.13 Build 231115 Rel.51785n (6985)).

it is connected as range extender, and I disabled the DHCP server on it. I have 2 issues don't know if they are normal or can be fixed:

  1. When a device connect to the range extender it takes around 30 seconds to 1 min in order to get an IP Address and connects to the internet, while on the main router it takes not more than 2 seconds.
  2. When the main router is restarted. The Range extender takes around 10 to 15 min to reconnect to the main router, so all the devices connected to range extender will not have internet for this time. But if I unplug and re-plug it to power it connects directly to the main router.

Hi  @Hamza-Haidar ,

For your issue, please try the following suggestions:

1. Try to change security type to WPA2-PSK for router;

2. On the router, to set a static IP for the Range extender: How to configure Address Reservation on Wi-Fi Routers (new logo)

3. If the suggestion above doesn't improve the situation, it is recommended that you can reset the range extender, update firmware and try the methods on this FAQ: What's the solution if my TP-Link range extender can't connect to my router properly?

Hi @Hamza-Haidar,

Please make sure you are tagging a TP-Link Admin (my account) if you want a timely response. Unless we are tagged we do not see that new responses have been added. We do not subscribe to every thread, so rely on Tagging to ensure responses.

The TL-WA850RE supports WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK,but the router may have WPA3 enabled at the same time, and it may take some time to reestablish the connection and refresh the network.
In addition, the placement will also affect the network reconnection. It is recommended that you place the Range extender in an open space.
