Internet speed awful

ISP : Virgin Media
I recently bought the PA211KIT after my older one decided to die on me, the speeds have been pretty poor in comparison to the older one. I was getting 20mb+ dl speeds on the older 211 and now I'm getting less than 1mb dl. I've constantly reset the router, made sure my firmware was upgraded and also made sure it was plugged directly into the socket, not on an extension. Any ideas how to improve on this awful speed?
