WDR3600 no 5Ghz wifi, no guest ssid networks

Region : Malaysia
Model : TL-WDR3600
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 130723 rel 9433n
ISP :
I've got several problems with this modem (WDR3600 V1):
- The 5Ghz wifi doesn't seem to be working, only 1 phone seems to pick up the 5Ghz network, 2 other devices which are 802.11n capable cannot see the 5Ghz ssid
- There is no "Guest Network" settings in the configuration menu!! The router is supposed to feature guest networks which is shown in the user guide and on the website product info.
Other issues:
- Does the current firmware that supports Unifi close any security loopholes. Its quite dated (3.13.32 130723) and the firmware from the main website is at 3.14.1 150302.
- Can I use the 3.14.1 150302 for my router, is that firmware compatible?
Edit- not sure why the wrong model number and country showed up.

Devices which are 802.11n capable may not support 5GHz band.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11#802.11n
802.11n operates on both the 2.4 GHz and the lesser-used 5 GHz bands. Support for 5 GHz bands is optional...

Ah ok, they could be 2.4Ghz-n which was why one phone worked.
But the bigger issue I have is the setting for guest networks which is completely missing.

I tried flashing the non-unifi firmware (latest 2015 version which contains security fixes) from the main website and got settings for guest networks available but there was no support for vlan routing. I'll be returning this for another model or brand.

Well, you found out the answer by yourself. The Unifi firmware doesn't support guest network feature while the latest firmware with guest network feature doesn't work for unifi.
I would suggest to report it as a suggestion here. http://ticket.tp-link.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit
But if you are ready to return it, Archer C7 V2 should be a good choice because its latest Unifi firmware has guest network feature. :)

Its strange to have to submit a "suggestion" for something that is already listed as a feature, but thanks for the link. The Archer C7 is twice the price and its very new so it might have compatibility/feature issues.Tony Seaford wrote

All of us here are users and try to to help each other. If you think it should be but it doesn't, then TP-LINK should make some improvements or they should know it at least. :)
C7 is not new any more. If you need guest network urgently, it should be a reliable choice as it supports Unifi and guest network simultaneously as I said.

The reply I got from support is that the Unifi firmware does not support guest networks while the latest non-Unifi supports guest networks but does not have vlan settings. So this is a warning to those out there who plan on getting the 3600.

If I choose to upgrade the latest firmware, I'm still able to use for UNIFI internet connection right? The only caveat is that I will lose the VLAN functionality for UNIFI IPTV to work. But my UNIFI internet will still work, right?
Thanks.
Thanks.
