Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Archer C6 and Wake on LAN.
I believe I have done all the necessary configurations to make my Wake On Lan work.
It seems to work because when I turn off the computer, I can start it up again. However, unfortunately, after some time with the PC turned off, the router no longer forwards the packet for the wake-up.
I have done the binding and everything that the official page recommends:

I can't figure out how to ensure that my Archer C6 doesn't lose the references and correctly forwards the wake-up packet.

Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution?

Thank you for reporting your issue to community.


To get Wake-on-LAN with TP-Link Wireless Router:
1. Ensure the mainboard and wired network adapter support the Wake-on-LAN feature.
2. Download the softwaresuch as WakeOnLanGui,LanHelper for Windows, RemoteBoot for IOS.
3. Turn on the Wake-on-LAN feature on your PC or phone. 
4. Binding your PC or phone's IP address and MAC address on the router.
5. Reserve the IP address for your PC or phone with your router. 

 

Please manually set a static IP for the client and compare whether the problem still exists?
If there is a related error message, please provide a screenshot.

  @Joseph-TP Hi, yes, everything is set up correctly. I can tell because Wake-on-LAN works. If I shut down the PC, I can turn it on both from the local network and from outside. However, if some time passes — definitely at least half an hour — it no longer turns on. When the PC has been off for a while, the network card only shows one of the two LEDs, not the usual two... and the WoL packet doesn’t turn the PC on anymore.

WoL just works or it doesn't work from a router perspective.This issue is most probably related to your PC OS/NIC settings/drivers.

Follow the instructions and check if they help to resolve your issue.

You could test that with another PC or laptop if you have one around to exclude any router issue.

  @terziyski I’ve done all the configurations from the link you suggested. Many were already set, but I also included the optional ones. The problem remains. If I send the wake-up packet shortly after shutting down, the PC turns on. But after just 10 minutes, it doesn’t turn on anymore. I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong.

I would do the following experiment.

If you can't wake up the PC from Shutdown stae (S5) after a while then try to wake up the PC from Sleep state (S3) or Hibernation state (S4).

If you don't have hibernation option in your Power menu check here how to enable that.

Waking from S3 and S4 should be much easier than waking from S5.

In S5 the power to the NIC is cut and you may not be able to wake up the PC at all.

That highly depends on your MB hardware,its BIOS and OS drivers.

Ciao   @terziyski  I tried putting my PC to sleep yesterday and sent it a Wake-on-LAN packet. Nothing happened... same behavior as always.

Hi@TheKingLothar,

Please log in to the router's web page and check the Ethernet status: Is the connection disconnected after the PC is shut down for a while?

 

In addition, do you have other devices that support WOL for comparison?

Hello  @Joseph-TP , first of all thank you for the time you're dedicating to me. I took a screenshot after putting the PC to sleep. Wake On LAN wasn't working but the network card seems active. I'm also attaching the configurations you suggested because I had already done them... but maybe they're incorrect. Is there a log where I can see if the packet was transmitted?
