Hi,

I have 2 wdr4300 bridged routers at 5Ghz N only. They are about 10meters away with 1 wall between them

i can get about 150mbps at the bridged router. I did a test with transfering file and testing internet speed at the same time, so i got this aproximate number.
File transfer in front at main router: 20Mb/s - 15Mb/s + 30mbps internet speed test.
File transfer in front at Bridged router: 9Mb/s - 7Mb/s + 30 mbps internet speed test.

If i change my 2 routers with 2 Archer C9 , and bridge them on 5GHZ AC only, how much can i get ? Anyone here made some kind of tests like this?
If anyone made with Archer C7 or C8 , please tell me too.

Hi,

What is your ISP synchronization speed?
If you want to measure the WLAN speed uses : LAN Speed Test !

Sorry, try to explain better:
These speeds i tested was between a file transfer between a notebook and a nas.
Nas is wired at main router
Notebook at other room. Same room that is the bridged router

Obs : the nas limit is 70mb/s because by cable is the maximum i can get

Well , my internet speed is 30mbps , but i really want to know the maximum spped transfer between my nas and my notebook at my lan .

i did a test with the software lan speed test.

strange program: it says writing speed is double than reading speed at my nas. i think is wrong.
i got 140mbps near main router and 70mbps near bridged router.

Other strange thing is that i think i can easily get about 100/120mbps at bridged router, with practical tests.

i made a test simoutaneously:
- streaming an 42mbps bitrate original bluray
- transfering file at 5 or 6MB/s (about 40-48mbps)
- testing internet speed 30mbps.

No sttutering , all ok for about 5min.
So i think i can get about 110 120mpbs at bridged router , when the LAN speed test software tells me that the maximum is 70mbps.

am i right?

FYI (with LAN Speed Test):

With my old WDR4900, 5G bridged to my Netgear R7000 10m away, I got approximatively 100Mbps.
Your 70Mbps is what I got with a 2.4G bridge...

With my new Archer C7 v2 at exactly the same place, I get approximatively 120Mbps...

I have a wall between them. in 2,4 (not bridged i think i got 60mbps)

Can you explain better?
Main router netgear , bridged router Archer c7?
Is the bridge congifured at only AC? Channel size? 160mhz? 80?
And at the main router? how much can you get? (in think probably the double mbps, but...)

I'm thinking about change my 2 routers to c7 c8 or c9.

Archer C8 and C9 uses a Broadcom chip like my Netgear R7000.
This chip is better for beamforming than the Qualcomm chip of the Archer C7.
Consequently in my case, the C7 is not the best choice.

Yes, the R7000 is my root router but the TP-Link routers are better for WDS bridging.
I use the standard AC parameters...

I made some tests.
The software LAN Speed test IS NOT GOOD.

Have tested today 2 Archer C9. One of them bridged of course.

Got 160mbps with the software after many tests.
At same conditions, If i simple make my pc to acess the NAS , and simply copy a 4gb file, i can get easily and stable 40MB/s that is 320mbps.
All this confirmed by network windows task manager.
What the hell is wrong with this software??

You're probably right because I'm a bit surprised sometime by the results I get...
I don't know if this tool is really reliable...

Certainly is not reliable.

Only chance is that we don't understand it.
I Think that the software makes separatedly Writing and Reading , right?
Strange that if consider the sum of writing and reading , then it apeears to be right. haha
On my 2 wdr4300 i got 120mbps considering the writing + reading of the software. It's exactly what i got transfering file to pc (15Mb/s) and about 13% of gigabit connection at Windows task manager graph.

Concluded that for sure the 2 archer C9 are much faster than 2 wdr4300.
And i have another doubt now:
I configured the 2 C9 , to make bridge at AC ONLY.
I have a notebook that is not AC compatible as the manufacturer said. It have only a, b , g ,n. But i could connect normal at AC from C9. made file transfers tests and worked well.
So , any device that have N , and don't have AC compatibility can connect?
