(Solved, but needs improvisation) TP-LINK 3G Client uninstallation problems
(Solved, but needs improvisation) TP-LINK 3G Client uninstallation problems
Region : Singapore
Model : MA260
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP : StarHub
So this problem started when I was solving the issue of my computer not detecting the internet even though my modem is connected. Now normally I would just restart my computer whenever this happens and the problem would have been solved most of the time.
However, this time when I restarted my computer, for some reason the application simply deleted itself (the desktop shortcut is defunct and the app is unpinned from the taskbar). So thinking it was a problem with the whole programme, I proceeded with trying to reinstall it. However, the InstallShield Wizard came out thinking the programme is still installed on my computer (it came out with the option to repair or remove). So I tried to repair at first. The message said it was finished after some time, but when I tried to access the programme through the autorun it won't open (I monitored the progress with the task manager and autorun.exe just disappeared as soon as it appeared). Then I tried to uninstall. Again the message said the uninstallation was complete. But when I open InstallShield Wizard again, it still thinks that the programme is still on my computer.
So then I decided to open Add or Remove Programs (Programs and Features) from the Control Panel to just uninstall from there. Here comes the problematic part: when I opted to uninstall TP-LINK 3G Client, InstallShield Wizard came up with the uninstallation process, but when it finished, the programme still remained in the list! I have tried these solutions to just try and completely remove the programme from my computer:
1) Remove the entire TP-LINK folder from Program Files
2) Search for any programmes and files named TP-LINK and remove all of them
3) Restart my computer with the programmes deleted, so that Programs and Features could remove the programme from the list
Unfortunately, none of them worked. For all of these methods, TP-LINK 3G Client still remained in the list of programmes. Now it would seem like I have to somehow remove that programme from the list or else this computer wouldn't be able to reinstall the programme and use the internet again (I'm currently using a public wi-fi to post this).
